Graft for Dole?

Many, many years ago, thirty-five in fact, I had a law degree – only just mark you, booze and girls kept getting in the way! – and started my Articles at £15 per week, which just about covered my bus fares. I knew bugger all about legal practice so fifteen quid was probably about right, I had a great deal to learn. So will someone please tell me what the hell all these ne’er do wells are  moaning about?! In real terms, they are still getting a damn sight more from the tax-payer than my paltry £15, and I also had to work five nights a week behind a bar in order to afford a half decent piss-up, so what?

Another thing. Last week, a final year marketing student applied to my Company for an intern placement. She addressed her email, ‘Hi there!’ I replied, ‘…..it is not guaranteed to impress any Company representative when you address your first introductory email with a “Hi there”. Such informality should only be adopted when invited, otherwise you may be seen as both unprofessional and indeed discourteous……..’ We didn’t hear another word, no doubt the precious one’s self-esteem was too badly damaged.

And the liberal elites are exercising themselves as to why our young, bright things can’t get jobs anymore? Or why they are all going to overseas nationals? Well now……..
